Why Do People in Atlanta Choose to Get a Liquid Facelift?

People in Atlanta often prefer the liquid facelift because it is a virtually painless procedure that takes less than an hour. Topical anesthetic is applied to diminish discomfort during the procedure. There is also numbing medicine in the fillers themselves, which also aids in easing discomfort.

Side effects are also rare with liquid facelifts. While there may be some swelling and bruising at the injection site there is no scarring. There is usually little to no downtime and people see immediate results.

Another benefit to the liquid facelift is that the enhancements are enjoyed for 1-2 years, for most patients. They will last for a long time but are reversible if you happen to change your mind about your appearance.

What is a Liquid Facelift?

Traditional facelifts have been performed to counter the signs of aging for more than one hundred years. Advances in facial cosmetic surgery now offer people in Atlanta minimally invasive alternatives to traditional procedures. One technique, the liquid facelift, can offer significant improvements without surgery.
A liquid facelift uses a combination of injectable fillers to treat the wrinkles, sagging and fine lines that appear on your face. Instead of re-draping and removing excess skin via incision, a filler solution is injected into the layers of your skin using a fine needle.

Injectable Fillers Used for Liquid Facelifts

Sculptra® replaces depleted collagen and facilitates new collagen growth. It is especially effective on treating deep facial depressions. Sculptra® works gradually over a series of treatments to restore facial volume. It is often used with other stimulatory fillers like Juvederm® to produce more instantaneous results while the Sculptra® begins to take effect.

Radiesse® is made of microscopic spheres of calcium hydroxyapatite contained in a water-based gel. The gel initially fills wrinkles, folds and lines. When Radiesse® dissolves it stimulates the growth of collagen and the generation of new tissue. Radiesse® is naturally absorbed by your body over time. Because this filler can spread through the tissues, Dr. Maloney does not use this filler in his Liquid Facelifts.

Restylane® and Juvederm® both use hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally produced in the body. Hyaluronic acid lubricates and insulates the tissue underneath the skin. Restylane® and Juvederm® increase the levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin and rejuvenates the look of the face.

What To Expect During a Liquid Facelift Procedure

Every patient’s procedure will vary depending on the condition of their facial skin and tissue, present lines, and desired results. Because of this, the process for any liquid facelift should begin with a thorough examination of the face and a discussion regarding the key areas that could be addressed with fillers. The dermatologist or plastic surgeon will provide recommendations and will plan the scope of the treatment with the patient. At this stage, the estimated cost for the procedure will be discussed, giving the patient an opportunity to make any adjustments to the treatment as needed to fit their budget.

After the plan has been determined, the physician will likely mark injection locations on the face to achieve the desired results and address volume loss. The injection areas will then be cleaned and (in most cases) topical numbing agents will be applied to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Once the tissue has numbed, the injections will be performed with a thin needle. The injection areas will then be massaged to help the filler to settle smoothly.

While in most cases the full liquid facelift will be completed in one sitting, some may prefer to spread the injections out over more than one appointment. This will allow the patient the necessary time to see the results in segments and give them an opportunity for touch-ups during future appointments.
